Steps required to download/install the hIOmon Trial Version

     1)  Fill out the download request form.

The hIOmon Trial Version requires a serial number for the installation of the hIOmon software.  To obtain the required serial number, simply fill out and submit a short download request form.  This form requires a minimum amount of information from you (in accordance with our privacy policy).

A confirmation page will be displayed after submitting the download request form. This confirmation page includes a "Download hIOmon" button along with the required serial number.  Please be sure to correctly enter this serial number when you are prompted for a serial number during the hIOmon installation process (step 2 below).

Click on the "Go download now!" button above to fill out and submit the download request form (but please first read the following steps explained below).

     2)  Run/Download/Install the hIOmon Trial Version software installation package file.

After you have successfully submitted the download request form (step 1 above), click on the "Download hIOmon" button present upon the confirmation page. You can then either “run” the hIOmon Trial Version software installation package file directly or save this file to a folder upon your computer (in which case you then simply need to run the downloaded executable file that you saved).

The hIOmon software installation package file for 32-bit operating systems is named “hIOmonInstall32.exe.  The separate hIOmon software installation package file for 64-bit operating systems is named “hIOmonInstall64.exe”.

NOTE:

The Trial Version hIOmon Disk I/O Ranger software installation package file requires approximately five megabytes (6 MB) of available disk space.

The Trial Version hIOmon I/O Performance Monitor software installation package file requires approximately twenty-five megabytes (25 MB) of available disk space.

Simply run the “hIOmonInstall32.exe” file (or the “hIOmonInstall64.exe” file), which will invoke the Microsoft Windows Installer utility to perform the actual installation of the hIOmon software.  When the welcome screen opens, follow the instructions on the screen.  Please be sure to correctly enter the serial number (from step 1 above) when prompted for a serial number.

Also please be sure to carefully read the hyperI/O LLC Software License Agreement (EUSLA) for the conditions and terms associated with the use of the hIOmon Trial Version software.  You must agree to this EUSLA to successfully install and use the hIOmon Trial Version software.

The hIOmon Installation ReadMe file is also displayed during the installation process.  This ReadMe file provides detailed information about the hIOmon installation requirements and process.

NOTE:  The overall installation of the hIOmon Trial Version software requires the following:

  1. Install the hIOmon Trial Version software components by running the "hIOmonInstall32.exe" or the "hIOmonInstall64.exe" file as mentioned above.

  2. For Windows 8.1 and 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2003, 2008/R2, and 2012/R2, the hIOmon Manager and hIOmon I/O Monitor software components must be loaded/installed as services.  The Windows Installer installation process (noted above) provides several "Custom Installation Options", one of which is to automatically load these hIOmon software components as part of the Windows Installer installation process.  This is a recommended option that is enabled by default.  If, however, you elect not to perform this "automatic load" as part of the Windows Installer installation process, then you must run the "Manually Load the hIOmon Manager and IO Monitor" shortcut that is provided within the "hIOmonSI" directory where the hIOmon software was installed; note again in this case that this shortcut must be run before you can use the hIOmon software.

As an additional "Custom Installation Option" available with the hIOmon I/O Performance Monitor software package only, you can also invoke the hIOmon "Automated Monitoring Configuration Setup Script" as part of the Windows Installer installation process for the hIOmon software.  This VBScript enables you to quickly create a simple Filter Selection, which will automatically be loaded/activated, along with one or more hIOmon Manager Export Files to which the I/O operation metrics collected by hIOmon will be exported in real-time and within a CSV-file format.  Please see the AMCSS page for additional details.

The AMCSS script also supports the "hIOmon Add-Ons" so that you can invoke a selected hIOmon Add-On immediately as part of the hIOmon software installation process.

  3. For the hIOmon I/O Performance Monitor package only, install the Sun Java Virtual Machine (which is only required for the hIOmon Presentation Client, which is only available with the hIOmon I/O Performance Monitor software package).  If you do not have/use the hIOmon Presentation Client or already have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.7.0 (or higher) installed, then you do not need to perform this step.

For the hIOmon Disk I/O Ranger package, double-click upon the "hIOmon Disk I/O Ranger" desktop icon (or use the “Start -> Programs -> hIOmon -> hIOmon Disk I/O Ranger” shortcut) to begin using the hIOmon Disk I/O Ranger software.

Please refer to the hIOmon Installation ReadMe files for specific details regarding the hIOmon installation process.  Click on the "Program -> hIOmon -> Documentation -> readMe.pdf" menu shortcut (accessible through the Windows desktop "Start" button) to view the hIOmon Installation ReadMe document.

NOTE:

To install the hIOmon Trial Version software on Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP, Server 2003, Server 2008/R2, or Server 2012/R2, you must log on with Administrator privileges.
