Big Picture

Making extensive use of the hIOmon WMI Support, the hIOmon WMI Browser is an HTML application that enables the simple use of Microsoft® Internet Explorer to easily control hIOmon operation and display the real-time summarized I/O operation performance metrics uniquely collected by hIOmon.  It can be used to perform both control and display operations for both local (i.e., the same computer upon which the hIOmon WMI Browser is running) and remote computers.

The hIOmon WMI Browser supports a variety of control and display operations, including:

  • Configuring various hIOmon Manager and hIOmon I/O Monitor operational parameters (e.g., the maximum number of files allowed to be concurrently monitored by the hIOmon I/O Monitor).

  • Definition, modification, and display of "Filter Selections" (which indicate which specific files are to be monitored and the type of file I/O operation performance information that is to be collected).

  • Definition, modification, and display of "File I/O Log Files" (which are disk files to which the hIOmon Manager optionally saves the file I/O operation performance information it has retrieved from the hIOmon I/O Monitor; this performance information can then be subsequently used for "replay mode" displays).

  • Display of current hIOmon Manager and hIOmon I/O Monitor status information as well as usage statistics.

  • Display and modify various Windows® Performance (PerfMon) / System (SysMon) Monitor hIOmon PerfLib Support configuration options.

  • Display of real-time summarized (i.e., automatically aggregated by hIOmon) I/O operation performance metrics for specific files, devices, and processes.

  • Display of real-time summarized I/O operation performance metrics on a "Top Ten" basis, for files, devices and processes and in a particular sort sequence that you can select (with more than 100 sort order sequences available).
